Are you absolutely bored of staying at home? Have you run out of activities to keep yourself occupied during this lockdown?
Rejoice! This gorgeous yearly phenomenon is back to keep you a break from the horrible things happening around us, at least just for a little while.
According to a post by Planetarium Negara, it’s that time of year again where the Perseids Meteor Shower can be seen decorating the night sky with their brilliance.
They wrote, “Thursday, 12 August 2021 at 9.00pm until the early morning of 13 August 2021. Malaysians will have the opportunity to witness the Perseids Meteor Shower phenomenon at night from 17 July to 24 August, 2021.”
The peak of the Perseids Meteor Shower is said to be during the above mentioned time frame, where it’ll reach a maximum rate of 110 meteors per hour, or almost 2 meteors per minute.
“For those who want to observe this meteor shower phenomenon, you will need to be in a dark area and away from light pollution,”
“The centre of the meteor beam comes from the constellation Perseus, which is located in the northern sky,” they added.
If you’re considering heading out to watch this illuminating show, please do adhere to the lockdown SOPs accordingly.
