The Government has decided to adjust the rates and methods of implementing compounding of summonses to ensure uniformity in the enforcement of road laws, starting last Friday (17 October).

The Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MOT) took to their Facebook page to announce their new principle, ‘The Less You Delay, The Less You Pay‘, whereby a lower compound rate will be given the sooner an offender pays off their summonses, starting 1 January 2026.

“The Less You Delay, The Less You Pay”

MOT wrote, “Starting 1 January 2026, the rates and methods of traffic summons compounding will be harmonised between the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to ensure uniform and fair implementation of road laws nationwide.”

“The Government has also introduced a new principle of ‘The Less You Delay, The Less You Pay’, where lower compound rates are given to those who pay their summonses early.”

The new reduction structure is as follows:

  • 1 to 15 days: 50% reduction
  • 16 to 30 days: 33% reduction
  • 31 to 60 days: Maximum rate
  • 61 days and above: court action and/or blacklist

Meanwhile, transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook, in a statement, said that the Cabinet has decided that discounts on summonses based on special programmes and campaigns will be replaced with this new principle starting next year.

Transition period

From now until the end of the year (30 December), the public can also enjoy discounts of between 50% to 70% for existing JPJ and PDRM summonses.

You can check for outstanding summonses and make payment via the MySIKAP Portal, the MyJPJ app, the MyBayarPDRM app and at JPJ counters, kiosks, as well as PDRM payment channels.
