A tornado struck Sekinchan again today (July 2), barely 4 months after a similar disaster destroyed over 30 houses.

The twister was captured by a nearby resident and shared by Ng Suee Lim on his Facebook account. Suee Lim, who is also the state assemblyman for Sekinchan, said that the tornado was spotted at the Parit 5 Ban 2 area. On March 12 this year, the twister, which happened during a heavy downpour, destroyed multiple houses and shops near a paddy field.
The first tornado tore through Sekinchan for the first time this year less than one week before the second tornado was reported.
As for the third strike today, China Press reported that the people in the city were not affected by the disaster, as the tornado only happened around the village area. In the meantime, Suee Lim also urged the people in the area to be careful, and more updates regarding the disaster will be shared.
At the time of writing, several houses were affected by the tornado.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department is also constantly updating about the weather, which you can keep tabs on via its Facebook page.
Will we see more tornadoes in Malaysia?
Following the second sight of the tornado in March this year, environmental governance and sustainability science expert Associate Professor Dr. Haliza Abdul Rahman warned Malaysians to brace for more tornado-like phenomena. While Malaysia is not associated with tornadoes due to its equatorial climate, Professor Dr. Haliza said small-scale tornadoes are still possible, according to the New Straits Times.
She cited strong convective thunderstorms as the reason, which are common during the intermonsoon periods from March to May and September to November.
Sekinchan is not the only place that was struck by the disaster. In November last year, the twister struck Yan in Kedah and damaged a few houses, reported Malaysia Gazette and as shown in a Facebook video by Ku Din Pendang.
