Who would’ve imagined that we could be met with an accident while we’re on the ambulance?
An ambulance skidded while it was on its way to Hospital Slim River, and the driver, as well as the female patient it was carrying passed away.
This accident happened this morning (4 August) when the ambulance was travelling on the North-South Expressway near Slim River, and the vehicle seemed to have lost control on the road and crashed onto the roadside divider.
The 37-year-old ambulance driver, Mohd Hafidz Mohd Bahari, and the 66-year-old patient, Azizah Binti Dolah, passed away on the spot. According to Sinar Harian, the patient couldn’t have made it because the oxygen tube that was connected to her got unplugged while the van flipped over.
There were three other passengers on board the ambulance, including a nurse, a medical assistant, and a doctor. Both the nurse and medical assistant suffered from light injuries, while the doctor was found uninjured.
Investigations show that the rear tyre of the ambulance got busted at Km368.4 of the said expressway.
A total of eight personnel from the fire department were deployed to the scene, as reported on Free Malaysia Today.
The injured victims were sent to the hospital for treatment. The families of the injured and deceased were contacted by the police, and the victims’ blood samples were taken for a toxicology test.
Our deepest condolences to the family of the driver and patient. We do hope cases like this won’t happen anymore!
