In certain states in Malaysia, there are stricter rules that the people are expected to follow.
Not long ago, a boutique owner was fined by the City Council for wearing shorts in her workplace. Recently, a female hairdresser was fined for giving haircut services to a male customer in Kota Bharu, the capital city of Kelantan. This was revealed by the president of Kelantan Chinese Assembly Hall, Huang Bao Jun.
Before we go any further, it’s important to know that this is not a new regulation in town. This law has been enforced by the Kota Bharu City Hall in the business license guidelines, which states that non-Muslim female hairdressers are not allowed to offer haircut services to any Muslim of the opposite sex.
According to Sin Chew, Huang visited the City Council to negotiate with the relevant authorities to come to a solution about the fine that was issued to the female hairdresser.
Huang previously also helped the viral businesswoman who was fined for wearing shorts in her boutique. The woman’s adoptive father helped in settling the fine because he did not want the matter to become political.
Huang did not state how much the fine amounted to, and at the time of writing, the Kota Bharu City Hall has yet to respond to the matter.
To be safe, we just have to follow the rules at certain places to avoid unwanted consequences.
