Contributing to the development of professional accounting, Sunway TES Centre for Accountancy Excellence (CAE) proudly commemorates the milestone of producing 1,006 highly skilled Yayasan Peneraju professional accounting graduates since 2012.

The “Celebrating 1,000 Yayasan Peneraju Professional Accounting Graduates” event, attended by distinguished guests including YB Dato’ Seri Mohd Rafizi Ramli, Minister of Economy and Guest of Honour and Encik Ibrahim Sani, CEO of Yayasan Peneraju, was attended by 400 individuals from across the industry. Representatives from the top professional services firms–BDO, Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PwC, professional bodies and Metropolitan Corridor–were also present to celebrate this outstanding accomplishment.

Bridging legacies and manifesting successful careers

The highlight of the event was an intriguing session titled “Bridging Legacies: An Intimate Dialogue Between Leadership and Alumni,” delivered by YB Dato’ Seri Mohd Rafizi Ramli. In his speech, he implored youths to assess whether they are more driven by financial security and comfort or by personal fulfilment when evaluating career progression.

He states that focusing on financial goals may lead some to switch jobs for higher salaries, but this can obstruct continuous learning and growth. Frequent job changes can mean starting over, affecting long-term development. Plus, employers may view job-hopping as a sign of temporary commitment, questioning a candidate’s prospects as a long-term investment.

YB Dato’ Seri Mohd Rafizi Ramli also emphasises the importance of considering career paths beyond the confines of one’s current company, encouraging youths to find the right business opportunities and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset.

Setting the standard for accounting fields

Sunway TES CAE has nurtured exceptional Yayasan Peneraju graduates, with 52% locking in positions at top professional services firms, 48% in government-linked companies, banking, government sectors and other industries. They also produced 75 World and Malaysia prize winners from their professional accounting programmes.

Professor Teo Ee Sing, Managing Director of Sunway College and Founder of Sunway TES CAE, said in his speech, “Today, we celebrate the achievement of 1,006 Yayasan Peneraju professional accounting graduates since 2012. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone here, and we look forward to reaching the next milestone of 2,000 graduates in the near future.”

This celebration reflects a key accomplishment for Sunway TES CAE, setting the bar for fostering Bumiputera talent and paving the way for more future achievements.

The Sunway TES CAE institution recently celebrated its 30th anniversary and offers a range of professional accounting programmes including:

  • ACCA Foundation in Accountancy (AFIA)
  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  • Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB)
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)
  • Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA)
