Sometimes, Muslim employees have to perform their daily prayers outside their workplace due to the lack of facilities. A Malaysian employer, however, decided to make things easier for her Muslim employees.
Malaysian handbag and shoe designer, Christy Ng built a Surau at her workplace
In her viral TikTok post @christyemilylove, Christy briefly shared the process of turning an empty, abandoned space in the office into a proper prayer space so that Muslim employees can carry out their prayers comfortably. Christy revealed despite the lack of a Surau in the workplace previously, her Muslim employees did not skip daily prayers and performed them in the abandoned space.
Christy, however, wanted them to perform their daily prayers in comfort but there was a problem.
“We hired more employees, so the space in the room got smaller. Sometimes, they had to take turns to pray.”
“I couldn’t bear watching them praying in narrow spaces,” Christy expressed.
So, the renovation work began.

Today, Muslim employees who work with Christy Ng in the office perform their daily prayers in the nature-themed Surau, with ease and comfort.

Malaysian social media users were amused to see Christy going the extra mile to provide convenience and comfort for her employees, and many praised her for her tremendous effort.
