It has been reported by international media sources that a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 aircraft was seized at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) earlier today (May 30 – Tuesday).

This is allegedly because of unpaid lease dues of $4 million (RM18,442,000.00).

According to a report by ARY News, the Boeing 777 aircraft, with the registration code AP-BMH, was acquired by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on lease from a Malaysia company.

The plane was apparently seized after the Malaysian authorities received an order from a local court to do so over non-payment.

While Aviation24 has since reported that PIA deployed another aircraft from Karachi, Pakistan, to pick up the stranded passengers of the seized plane in Kuala Lumpur, causing a 13-hour flight delay.

South Asian Times also shared that the seized plane has since been allowed to leave as officials reached a settlement.

If this is real, it wouldn’t exactly be the first time it has happened.

Back in 2021, the same aircraft was seized at KLIA due to the same issue, though the plane was later released on diplomatic assurance over the payment of the lease dues.
