With the ongoing inflation and with no signs of it ending anytime soon, it’s understandable that many food operators out there find the need to increase the price of their goods. Despite the hike in prices, the quality of the food should not be compromised but unfortunately, the decline in food quality does happen in some eateries despite the high prices.

A disappointed Malaysian recently shared a few images of what could’ve been a lovely meal – a simple plate of roti bakar which he dubbed “unacceptable“. In his Facebook post, Ernie, the frustrated customer at a famous eatery shows his plate of roti bakar that came with butter and kaya spread. Ernie was immediately disappointed when he “unboxed” the toast and revealed the fillings.

The kaya was only spread on 1 side of the bread, with 2 thin slices of butter sandwiched between the bread.

“This is why they totally lost out and suck at what they once did so well”, Ernie said in his post.

He also took the time to explain why other eateries and modernised Kopitiam are doing better than that particular famous eatery. To him, it is simply because other places provide real value to the customers.

Ernie is also baffled as to why this joint “still exists”, and indicated that he is not going to return.

“This is called No Brain Butter & Kaya Toast. Goodbye!”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Ernie said that he complained about the toast because the portion of the butter was not the only issue.

“The bread was toasted but it was soggy. It was totally unacceptable!”

Ernie then told WORLD OF BUZZ that the staff at the eatery returned with a new batch of toast but unfortunately, Ernie said it was just as bad.

“They probably just transferred the butter from the first batch, and the shape was just as bad.”

In the meantime, Ernie has a reminder to all food operators out there, and he emphasises on providing real values to customers, saying “Making a profit is important, but don’t abandon the real values“.

As consumers, we’re more than happy to return to the same place if the food quality is maintained. The struggle with inflation is real but it’s never a good reason to compromise with the quality of the food which you serve to paying customers.
