Almost every girl has to admit it – that ‘time of the month’ isn’t the best period for us ladies. And here are some of the things we have to go through.

1. The horrific mood swings

The struggle of going through PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome) is REAL. It’s as if every emotion you feel is magnified. You suddenly feel sad, angry, frustrated, happy, and annoyed all at the same time. Every little thing triggers your emotions. One minute you would feel like crying, the next you would feel like strangling someone. Guys, WE KNOW THIS, but we just can’t help it! So please stay as far away as possible.

2. Sneezing becomes a FREAKISHLY terrifying feat

Ohhhhh yes. During your period, sneezing becomes slightly daunting because we all know what happens when we sneeze during our periods. It feels like an ocean of blood just gushed out of your vagina every time you sneeze. Then, you’ll have to worry if anything leaked. Geez.

3. Settling on a ‘laying-down-position’ is a challenge

In fact, not just laying down, sitting and sleeping too becomes a challenge. You spend a good few minutes as well as trial and errors to find the PERFECT position – the position where you don’t feel like your period might leak out of your pad any minute; the position where you don’t feel a stabbing pain in your uterus. YES, THAT POSITION. Once you get into THAT position, you never want to move again, not even an inch. You’ve ‘settled in’.

4. Losing the war in your uterus, lower back, boobs… EVERYTHING

It feels like ‘Gods of War’ in your tummy and your uterus. That period pain is no joke. The stabbing pain you feel drains the life out of you. Everything hurts. Your uterus hurts; your lower back hurts; your boobs sores, you’re constantly tired, everything!

5. So many cravings

You get the worst fattening cravings during your period. You suddenly feel like munching down on that chocolate bar at midnight, or you suddenly feel like having a whole tub of ice cream all to yourself at 10am in the morning. You get the worst cravings at the oddest times. So guys, if we ask for some chocolates or candies during that time of the month, please don’t question our diet or calorie intake, just GIVE IT TO US, thank you.

6. The ‘race’ after you shower

Showering feels absolutely surreal. It’s the only time during your period where you get to relax in a warm nice shower. You get to do whatever you want in the shower; sing a little, dance a little. BUT as soon as that tap goes off, that ‘race’ to dry yourself up and put on a new pad ain’t no laughing matter.

You need a game plan before you switch that tap off. Be prepared to start running to your towel, drying yourself up, choosing which parts you have time to dry up, and then quickly putting on your new pad in your undergarment.

7. You start to get so much acne you feel like a teenager again

If you’re lucky enough to not experience this ‘acne attack’ during your period, BE GRATEFUL. Some of us get so many random acnes during our period that no makeup can help cover it; you just gotta let it be until it slowly fades away after your period ends. SO ANNOYING.

8. Having to choose your outfits and undergarments VERY wisely

You have to pre-plan your outfit and undergarments each time. You try to avoid white clothes in fear that your period might somehow leak and stain it. You avoid wearing your expensive La Senza panties in order to not ruin it by sticking your pad on the. Instead, you opt for that ugly old granny panties you kept aside for your period week, because honestly it feels SO MUCH more comfortable than that sexy panties during your period.

9. Pretending not to be interested when your friends ask you to swim

Especially when there’s a bunch of guy friends. What are we going to say? SORRY I CAN’T DIP IN THE POOL BECAUSE MY PERIOD IS GOING TO TURN THE WATER RED.

And even if we do try to come clean, it’ll usually lead to awkward glances from the boys. So to keep it easy for everyone, we’ll just say that we’d rather just chill by the pool and read a book.
