An eight-year-old girl suffered serious injuries after she was thrown out of the vehicle she was in and the flyover on the DUKE highway near Jalan Tun Razak last Friday (27 November), reported Harian Metro.

According to Head of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Assistant Commissioner Zulkifly Yahya, this happened after the vehicle driven by the girl’s father skidded and hit the wall of the flyover.

“The vehicle skidded due to heavy rain before hitting the left wall of the flyover,” he said.

“As a result of the accident, the victim, who was also a rear passenger, was thrown from the right rear side window and fell down from the flyover.”

He added that the girl fell from a height of about 10 to 15 meters into a parking lot of a used car sales centre on Jalan Pahang.

Videos on social media show the incident when it happened where the girl can be seen falling onto several cars at the centre which were slightly dented from the girl’s fall.

“The victim suffered a fracture in her left thigh and was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for further action,” Zulkifly Yahya said.

“Case investigations are underway to identify the real cause of the incident.”

The poor girl! Hopefully, she is able to recover fully from her injuries and that she will be well-taken care of. Be safe when driving on wet roads, especially during this rainy season. Wear your seatbelts!
