An 8-month-old baby girl lost her life after being left in a car by her mother for 10 hours at the Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM car park in Cheras.
According to a report by Astro Awani, a source shared that the baby girl’s mother, who is a doctor at the hospital, arrived for work without realising that she had left the child in the car up until 5:30pm.
“The woman received a phone call from her husband at 5:30pm, stating that her child was not at the nursery and after checking again with her husband, the woman proceeded to go to the parking lot where her car was located,”
“She found her daughter in the baby seat at the back in a lifeless state, and removed the victim to provide respiratory assistance (CPR) before being taken to the emergency ward for further treatment,” the source said.
The victim’s father was said to have arrived at the nursery in which they send their child to, only to find that the victim wasn’t there.
He then called his wife and informed her about this, asking his wife to go to the parking lot to check her car.
“When the victim’s father arrived at the car park, he found his wife giving CPR to their daughter and asked his wife to take the victim to the emergency ward for further action at 5:35pm,” the source explained, adding that CPR was done for 6 minutes but the baby didn’t show any reactions or signs of life.
“The baby has since been confirmed dead and an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.”
The initial investigation found negligence in the case, which has been handed over to the Sexual Crimes, Women and Children Investigation Division (D11) of the Kuala Lumpur Police Headquarters for further action, under Section 3(1)(a) of the Children Act 2001.
