Plastic surgery and body & face alterations are becoming much less taboo as it previously was in the past. People often go through such procedures for beauty or alteration purposes, however, it appears that it is also popular with criminals.

According to Harian Metro, a group of 8 women in Kelantan have used plastic surgery in order to avoid arrest by the police.

The group of women allegedly face multiple charges related to murder, robbery and theft.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said that the women have been on the run for 17 years. He added that it is likely that the women are still hiding somewhere in Kelantan.

He also said that they had been moving from one location to another to avoid being tracked down and arrested by the police.

“We are still looking for them and have contacted the police outside Kelantan to track them down. Some of them may have fled to Thailand and changed their identities to avoid being detected by the police.”

He stated that those who fled to the neighbouring country might have also gotten married to citizens there.

“They are afraid to return to Kelantan for fear of being detained by the police,” he said.

Speaking to reports at his office at the Kelantan Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK), Shafien said, “This matter is a challenge to us, but the police have never stopped to track them down.

“Police seek out their families, but they did not cooperate. They informed us that they have not been in contact with the suspects for a long time.”
