The Ministry of Health has recorded two-digit cases the past few days and of course, we Malaysians are quite happy with the news as the virus is showing signs of slowing down.

Yesterday (19th April), the ministry has reported that there were 84 new Covid-19 positive cases, which brings the total number of active cases to 2,103. The recovery rate is 59.32%! Wow, that’s really great news!

Other than that, according to Sinar Harian, 8 states reported zero cases yesterday! The states are:

  • Perlis
  • Kedah
  • Penang
  • Perak
  • Negeri Sembilan
  • Terengganu
  • Kelantan
  • Labuan.

However, out of the 84 new cases reported yesterday, the highest number of new cases was in Melaka, which saw an increase of 37 cases. The ministry has also detected that there was a new cluster of positive cases there which involves students coming back from Indonesia on 16th April.

The 43 students returned from Temboro, which has been declared a red zone in Magetan, Indonesia. 34 of them are quarantined in Melaka while 9 of them are in Kuala Lumpur. Dr. Noor Hisham said,

“This shows that the government’s actions to take steps to quarantine and screen all Malaysians who are returning from overseas is right. And this will ensure that all imported cases will not infect Malaysians locally.”

We definitely hope that the number of cases today will continue being low as well! We are now seeing the effects of the MCO and it is definitely a very crucial phase. To make this a success, everyone needs to stay at home and also to stay safe and hygienic!
