When it comes to hiking, what usually comes to mind is waking up before sunrise, proper attire, bringing enough water to hydrate yourself, and so on.
However, one elderly woman in Kelantan defied all odds when she went hiking with her granddaughter in jubah (robe) and slippers! The best part is, she made it to the top of Bukit Panau in Tanah Merah, Kelantan.
The video of her hiking and reaching the top of the hill was uploaded by her grandaughter on TikTok last week, which at the time of writing, has gained more than 15,000 views and more than 1,500 likes.
In the video, the elderly woman can be seen hiking carefully while being watched closely by her family. When she reached the top, she quickly ran to the centre for a “victory” pose while being applauded by the public.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Haishah Hashram revealed that this was actually the first time that her grandmother decided to tag along in the hiking with the family. Despite it being her first time, Wan Zaharah, who is 74 this year, seemed to have reached the top effortlessly. To be able to reach the peak of the hill meant something to Wan Zaharah as it motivated her to be more active in hiking with her family in the future.
In fact, it has already been decided that the inspirational grandma will maintain the attire – jubah and slippers in future hikes to come as she feels very comfortable in the attire.
According to Haishah, Despite her grandmother’s age, Wan Zaharah is still very much a healthy person and she does not enjoy spending her time by just staying home. At times, she will stroll around the village to meet up with her friends.
