It was a tragic ending for a 68-year-old man in Indonesia, who was ripped in half by a crocodile while taking a bath in a river.
The victim, Yunus, told his wife that he was going for a bath at the river in Aceh, Indonesia, just behind their house. Concerns arose when Yunus did not return home hours after he went out, and the family thought Yunus, who was also a grandfather, had drowned.
Yunus’s wife, Dimyam, went to the river to look for her husband and found his clothes and belongings on the grass. The discovery did not sit well with Dimyam, who now feared the worst, so she called the authorities after informing her son, Iptu Andi Ananta Grilya Utama, Ranto Peureulak Police Chief said in a statement.
Rescue teams and volunteers worked together to find Yunus’ body. Unfortunately, only half of his remains were found.
In an incident that is believed to be a crocodile attack, Yunus’ entire upper half body is missing
His remains were found drifting downstream around a mile away from where he had left his clothes. The remains of his body were collected and taken home for a funeral, but his upper body, head, and arms are yet to be found.
The villagers also expressed their fear after knowing that a crocodile was living among them.
In another update, a saltwater crocodile was recently captured at a lake in Shah Alam, Section 7. The reptile was caught hours after the Selangor Wildlife Department set traps.
Our condolences go out to his family.
