Today’s special date (22.02.2022) has become a historic event for 59 couples after they tied the knot together in a simple wedding ceremony at the Wisma Chin Woo earlier.

Based on a report by Bernama, the Ipoh Chin Woo Athletic Association organised the event that celebrated the couples, aged 25-38, who gathered in the presence of their parents to wed.

Among the 59 couples were 27-year-olds Chan Kai Wei and Chow Ji Khay, who chose today’s date due to how special it is, how memorable it would be and that the meaning of the numbers are considered lucky.

Another couple, 29-year-old Tong Kok Leong and 35-year-old Hah Siew Jun, chose to take part in the open celebration as a memory to be always remembered and they too were fond of today’s special date.

“Today’s date is unique and special for me and my wife because I don’t know when to get a date like this in the future. On top of that, the cost of this wedding ceremony is only RM260 for each couple which includes the ceremony and also the marriage certificate,” they shared.

The association president, Datuk Ooi Foh, added that the event is one of the largest organised since the Movement Control Order (MCO) for almost 2 years, which affected their planning.

The ceremony was conducted with every 12 couples getting married simultaneously. This was to ensure that social distancing could be practiced throughout the event.
