4 KLIA Officers Investigated for Alleged “Counter Setting” & Letting 25 Foreigners Illegally Enter Malaysia

The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has revealed that it is investigating four of its officers for allegedly colluding to help foreign nationals bypass immigration checks at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The offences allegedly took place between January and April this year and involved at least 25 foreign nationals.

In a statement, AKPS said that the alleged offences by the four officers were found out after 25 individuals from Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia were arrested between January and April 2025 at KLIA for attempting to leave Malaysia.

The foreign individuals were detained for overstaying in Malaysia, and their entry approval is suspected to have been obtained through unlawful procedures. Moreover, the arrests were a result of routine inspections and continuous monitoring by AKPS in KLIA during the said period.

Accordingly, the four AKPS officers are now under investigation for suspected involvement in “counter setting”, a practice where selected individuals are allowed through inspection counters without going through proper and legal procedures.

AKPS stressed that it views the matter seriously and won’t compromise with any officer or individual involved in any misconduct or action that could jeopardise the nation’s border security and sovereignty.
