He struck the victim with a brick

In a statement, Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief ACP Kumarasan A/L Muniandy said the victim had stopped the suspect, but out of anger, the suspect picked up a brick and struck the victim on the head.

The assault left the victim injured, and he later lodged a police report on August 31 (Sunday). Following the report, the Criminal Investigation Division of IPD Iskandar Puteri arrested the suspect.

“Based on the information received, on September 1 at around 12:01 AM, a police team from the Criminal Investigation Division of IPD Iskandar Puteri arrested a 37-year-old local man in connection with the case,” he said.

The suspect will remain in remand for four days

Kumarasan said checks showed the suspect had no prior criminal record, and his initial urine test came back negative for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury with a weapon or dangerous object. If found guilty, the suspect could face up to 10 years in jail, a fine, whipping, or a combination of these punishments.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward at the nearest police station, or contact the Iskandar Puteri District Control Centre at 07-5113622 or the hotline at 07-5114486.
