A woman was struck by lightning while trying to seek shelter from the rain in a hut nearby a farm in Dompu district, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Unfortunately, the woman lost her life.

What’s even more heartbreaking is that the incident happened right in front of her husband’s eyes.

According to Kompas, the victim was identified as Maani and was only 36 years old. Prior to the incident, the victim was helping her husband do some work on a peanut farm. Due to the rain, they decided to stop working and to rest for a while in a hut.

It is understood that the hut was only 100 meters from the farm. However, the victim was unfortunately struck by lightning while walking towards the hut.

Lighting

Pajo District Police Chief, Abdul Malik said, after being struck by lightning, the woman immediately fell.

He said the victim was believed to have died instantly at the scene.

Faint

“There were burns on the victim’s back and neck. The victim’s husband picked up his wife’s body and asked for help from the locals,” he said.

Following the incident, Abdul Malik reminded the residents of the district to be careful when doing work outside the house.

According to him, this is because the current weather conditions are rather unpredictable.
