It can sometimes be anxiety-inducing when your partner leaves you on ‘read’ or doesn’t read your texts at all. A Malaysian man, however, escalated the situation when he did not get a response from his partner for his text.

20-year-old Muhamad Nurhaqimi Harun texted his girlfriend “Good morning Sayang” and after not getting a response, they both got into a heated argument, where Nurhaqimi slapped her on her left cheek, causing a minor injury.

The victim, who is also 20 years old was slapped on October 10 around 12:15 PM at Jalan Parit Bilal, where Nurhaqimi worked. The victim was there to bring him lunch.

According to the police, Nurhaqimi was not happy that his partner did not respond to his “Good morning Sayang” text, which led to the fight, reported Berita Harian.

Due to the injury, the victim had to get treatment at Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail (HSNI). She then lodged a report at the Batu Pahat Police Station following her treatment.

Nurhaqimi pleaded guilty at the Batu Pahat Magistrate Court today (October 17), and after the court heard the statement from both parties, the court fined Nurhaqimi RM800. The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Farah Wahidah Mohd Sharip, while the accused was represented by lawyer Mohd Razak Shariff.

If he fails to pay the fine, Nurhaqimi will face a jail time of 14 days.

Arguments are sometimes inevitable, but there is never a valid reason for anyone to get physical.
