2 M’sians Pretend to Offer Help to Woman Stranded with Broken Down Car, Robs Her & Causes Injuries

Having your car break down on your is bad luck enough. Imagine someone then robbing you while you’re stranded by the side of the road with your broken down car!

That’s the unfortunate situation a Malaysian woman had to endure near Kota Kemuning at around 7am yesterday (June 26).

Utusan TV took to their Twitter page to showcase dashcam footage of the robbery, as 2 men on a motorcycle took advantage of the woman’s vulnerable circumstances. Though, thankfully, the 2 men have since been arrested.

Robbery 1

They wrote,

“A carwash worker and a restaurant assistant were arrested after they were believed to have robbed a woman on the side of the Shah Alam Expressway near the Kota Kemuning exit, at 7am yesterday.”

“The Shah Alam District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim shared that investigations found that the incident happened when the victim, a 58-year-old Chinese woman, stopped by the side of the road because her car was had broken down.”

 

What makes this entire situation worse is that the 2 men pretended to offer help to the woman in regards to her broken down car, and their robbery caused her to sustain injuries.

“The 2 suspects initially stopped next to the victim’s car and pretended to offer help. Suddenly, one of the suspect took the wallet that was in the crossbody bag held by the victim,” Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim explained. Her bag contained her identification documents, her bank card and RM500 in cash.

Robbery 2

The victim then grabbed the hand of the suspect who was riding the motorcycle, but that caused her to be dragged against the road.

“She received treatment at a hospital and the doctor confirmed that she suffered minor head and leg injuries.”

“Acting on information, 2 Malay men were arrested around Klang at 1:30am to 3am this morning (June 27). A motorcycle that was used during the incident was also confiscated, along with the victim’s belongings,” he added.

While one of the suspects has 3 criminal and drug records, both were found to be positive for methamphetamines.
