Two teenage girls, M. Divyaa, 16, and N. Nashatra, 15, who went missing on Sunday night (14 April) have been found.

It was reported by The Star that they had not gone missing, but had in fact attempted to run away from home because one of them was upset with her mother.

According to Mohd Zani Che Din, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm, the two girls were found by one of their aunts at 2.30am on Monday (15 April) at the KTM Batu Tiga station.

“She brought the two girls to her house in Sungai Buloh,” he said.

“She only took them to the Petaling Jaya police headquarters at around 7.30pm on Monday. We are taking their statements and will refer them to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a medical evaluation.”

They had spent Sunday evening together after they went to a temple at about 5.30pm near Jalan Gasing Indah to celebrate the Tamil New Year. They then went to one of their houses to spend some time.

At 10.45pm, Divyaa contacted her mother saying that she was taking an e-hailing ride home and would arrive in about 10 minutes. However, the e-hailing ride company revealed that one of them had cancelled the ride.

When Divyaa did not arrive home, her mother could not contact her in any way and assumed that they might’ve tried walking home. She said she had no idea what had happened to them.

Both the girls’ parents lodged police reports after that and investigations were carried out immediately.

Being upset with your parents is probably not a very good reason to run away from home, nor is running away from home a wise thing to do at all. Doing that will only make your parents panic for no reason. Instead, find a way to communicate with them and let them know what you’re unhappy about. In the mean time, stay safe out there!
