Yesterday, it was reported that 2 maids had sneakily brought 2 strange men into their employer’s home, while the employer was upstairs with his wife and while the maids caring for the employer’s baby.

Now, the employer, local celebrity doctor, Dr Shazril Shaharuddin, is sharing further details about the incident that took place on Monday night, July 29.

Taking to his Instagram page, he shared how his neighbour had informed him about the men entering his home and that the men were found in his maids’ room, where his baby was asleep in between their beds.

He wrote, “A summary of what happened. I never expected that this would happen to me and my family. I gave my maids leniency and this is what I get in return. I don’t even know how to treat these maids anymore. Lesson learnt, I hope you will never have the same fate as me.”

“I’m grateful, Alhamdullilah, that we are all okay, it’s just that I’m now very ‘emo‘ with my maids. Thank you, again, PDRM, for your help.”

Here’s everything you need to know about this incident.

The timeline

Dr Shazril started by explaining that he had returned home at 9:20pm, after getting a haircut.

“When I was entering my home, I noticed 2 men standing near the house across the road from me. I thought they were just regular folks as there are always people passing by my housing area. At 9:40pm, my wife left for work, so me and our kids sent her off in front of our house,”

“That was when a man came and approached me, saying that he lived (in the house) across from my home and that he saw 2 men entering my house. I don’t know him so I took his words lightly plus it isn’t logical that people can enter my house while me and my wife were at home,” he said.

Though, he thought about the 2 men who had loitered outside of the house across the road from him and decided to ask his maids if they knew anything.

“Were there 2 men that entered the house?” he asked his maids.

Dr Shazril mentioned that he wouldn’t mind if his maids’ friends were to drop by to pass things to them but if the maids did not know the 2 men, he wanted to make a police report to get them to do a walkthrough of his house for safety purposes.

He further drilled his maids (one is Indonesian while the other is from the Philippines) for answers, to which his Indonesian maid had merely said, “they have left”.

The CCTV

Initially, he felt relieved as he believed that the maids knew the men and that the men were no longer there.

He then decided to tell his wife about it and his wife interpreted “they have left” differently, sharing her belief that it meant the men had entered their home and might still be there.

That’s when he decided to check the CCTV in their living room, saw how the maids had tampered with the CCTV and noticed them allowing the men into his home at 9:25pm, through the reflection on his TV.

At 8:36pm, one of the maids decided to put a water bottle in front of the CCTV to block the view and at 8:40pm, the other maid completely shifted the CCTV to point away from the living room, towards the TV.

At 9:25pm, while he was upstairs with his wife (after he had returned from his haircut and before she had left for work), the maids brought the 2 men into his home.

His baby was asleep in the maids’ room

“And when I forwarded the CCTV, I didn’t see the men leaving. At this time, my wife was already at her workplace. She panicked and told me to save our baby who was sleeping with our maids,” he added.

He clarified that when his wife is on call, his 2 maids will watch over their baby while he tucks his other 2 children into bed, which is why their baby was with the maids when the incident happened.

Upon realising what was going on, he worried about entering his maids’ room alone as he, as one man, would have to go against 2 men. He would be outnumbered, and his baby and other children would be in the middle of a possible scuffle and potential danger.

Hence, he called the police, who later arrived and raided the maids’ room.

The 2 men’s whereabouts

In his initial Instagram Stories, the 2 men who entered his home were nowhere to be seen when the police raided his maids’ room.

Though, he has now revealed that the 2 men were, in fact, in the room and were shirtless while hiding under the maids’ blankets on their respective beds.

All of this was also happening while his baby slept in between his 2 maids’ beds.

“When the door was opened, you can see my baby sleeping on a rocker in between the beds of my 2 maids, and you can see the 2 men hiding under the blankets on my maids’ beds,” he said.

He quickly took his baby from the room while the police gave the men a stern talking-to.

Due to the 2 men being invited by the maids, the police could not take action against the men as their actions could not be considered as a break-in.

The maids have been sent back to their respective agencies

After telling off his maids, he ultimately decided to send his maids back to their respective agencies and warned the general public to be more weary of letting maids into their homes.

“They exposed my children to strangers. And what if my baby cried while they were (doing whatever it is they were doing)?”

Before leaving, one of the maids explained that it was their first time bringing the men into his home, to which he was thankful that he managed to catch them before it became a regular occurrence.

We’re so happy that Dr Shazril and his family were unharmed during this incident.
