According to Baby Center, it’s typical for an 18-month-old toddler to speak 5 to 20 words, but there is an 18 month-old toddler in Johor who defied all odds by being able to speak more than 500 expressive vocabularies!
Meet Diiyash Dev, the 18 month old toddler who made a name for himself in the Malaysia Book of Records, and he has been recognised as “The Youngest to Speak Expressive Vocabulary”.
WORLD OF BUZZ spoke to Kanageswary, the proud mother of Diiyash, who told us that she started noticing that her son was able to pick up the words that were taught to him merely within seconds when he was only 11 months.
By the 14th month, Diiyash could already speak complete sentences consisting of 3 to 8 words. An absolutely impressive fast learner!
This adorable 18-month old can now speak up to more than 500 words, and upon the discovery of her son’s impressive talent, Kanageswary reached out to the Malaysia Book of Records in early August. A month later, Diiyash was recognised as the youngest to speak a huge number of expressive vocabularies.
Kanageswary also shared a short clip with WORLD OF BUZZ where her son can be heard speaking multiple words, and you can watch the clip below.
Diiyash can easily (and effortlessly) address the elderly, as well as identify whatever he sees in his surrounding.
Of course, there are plenty of ways to educate the toddler, and Kanageswary does whatever she can with her husband. The pair “teams up” and teaches Diiyash using flashcards, rhymes, and storytelling, which would introduce Diiyash to more vocabulary.
To the first-time parents out there, if you’re wondering how to train your toddler to speak, Kanageswary, who is a teacher shared multiple tips on how to train your toddler to speak. Of course, you have to speak to your toddler, A LOT, if you expect him to grasp as many words as possible.
“Use every opportunities to expose them to the language, even if they’re not responding back.”
Another tip that may kickstart the training is to tell your toddler about what you’re doing, which is what Kanageswary has been doing since Diiyash was born.
“Like ‘I’m washing the dishes, you’re playing with the ball.”
The complete tips are available on her Instagram’s highlight, and they might come in handy, so you can refer to them below.
Congratulations baby Diiyash for the achievement at such a young age! 10 to 20 years down the road, a grown-up Diiyash will definitely smile when he look back at his achievement, and with his impressive talent, we’re certain that Diiyash will make his parents proud.
