While we count on the police to combat drug abusers in our country, a case was uncovered yesterday (1 November) at 4:10 am.

As reported on Oriental Daily, 14 patrol cops were caught having a drug “party” at a public parking lot in Shah Alam. Apparently, these police officers ponteng work to meet up at a shopping mall at Seksyen 7. A total of six police cars were found arriving at the scene at different times, and two 1.5L bottles of ketum leaf-infused water were found in one of the patrol cars.

These cops were on duty that very night, and while they were having “the time of their lives” at the ketum (a.k.a kratom) gathering, they were still dressed in their officer uniforms! Not only that, but they were also assigned to different areas to carry out their duties, yet they still managed to meet up at one place.

The director of Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID), Datuk Mohd Kalil Kader mentioned that they have begun their “Op Blue Devil” since 13 August to eradicate drug abuse among police personnel. And for this particular case, right after the reports reached Bukit Aman NCID, they collaborated with Selangor NCID to raid the scene at the aforementioned parking lot.

After the arrest, all the suspects will be transferred to work for the civil services. Once the they are confirmed, lawsuits would be filed against them.

Although kratom trees grow natively in Malaysia, the leaves are prohibited under Section 30 (3) Poisons Act 1952 due to their opioid properties. Remember guys, having these trees grow natively doesn’t mean you should do it.
