Bravery comes in many forms and this can be proven by a 13-year-old girl from Kuantan, Nuraina Erieka Abdullah, who was born with disabilities.

Her house at the Taman Anggerik Desa flats at Jalan Beserah caught on fire on Wednesday (30 September) while her parents were visiting her grandmother just 500 meters from their home.

As according to Sinar Harian, her younger sister was asleep in one of the rooms when the fire started blazing. Despite the thick smoke and fire, Nuraina was willing to risk her life to save her sister.

Her parents, Wan Ahmad Faiz Wan Shamsudin and Nur Zalina Mohd Fauzi, both 38-years-old, did not expect that Nuraina would react that way when realising her one-year-three-month-old sister was still trapped inside.

“I was told that Nuraina had managed to save herself, then she went back up to our house on the third floor after realising that her youngest sister out of seven siblings was still in the room. She braved through the thick smoke and fire to save her sister, her courage has made us so proud as a family,” said her father.

“Even though she is disabled, she is capable of helping her family, especially by taking good care of her siblings.”

They added that if she didn’t react so quickly, terrible things could have happened through the smoke and fire. The fire had apparently started due to a gas leak in the kitchen, which led to the fire climbing the walls to the ceiling.

Thankfully for Nuraina, her quick thinking and her bravery, her little sister is safe and sound. Kudos, Nuraina!
