Aww, isn’t he such a good boi!

The Royal Malaysia Police (Polis Diraja Malaysia, PDRM) just shared on their Facebook that they have awarded a police doggo, Urby, with a medal after he helped solve a murder case.

He and his handler, Corporal Umbat Anak Selan from the KLIA Headquarters solved a murder case in Banting, Selangor not too long ago in October.

The 12-year-old German Shephard managed to find the dead body of a Bangladeshi national in a bush. Prior to the discovery, the man was reported missing for several days.

Thus, Urby and his partner Umbat were given a letter of appreciation and medals in the closing ceremony of K9 Series 1/2019 course. It was organised by the Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) in Dataran Kawad, PULAPOL, Kuala Lumpur.

The course ran from 12th August to 23th November 2019 and it involved 43 members of JSJ from Section 21 K9. The course aims to equip them with basic knowledge of handling a police dog.

The JSJ deputy director (Investigation/ Legal) DCP Datuk Salehhudin Abd Rahman, who was speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of the Police Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abdul Hamid Bador, said that he was grateful for the participants who have completed the course.

He was quoted as saying,

“The success of the participants in the course has been outstanding, clearly demonstrating that nothing is impossible to achieve if done with the utmost enthusiasm and patience.”

On top of that, he said that K9 played a significant role in PDRM operations and has contributed to the resolution of high profile criminal cases. FYI, the Malaysian K9 unit was established in 1968.

Well, we’re ecstatic that Urby got honoured for his service as a K9 troop, and we hope that he (along with the many other doggos in the troop) will receive many accolades in the future.
