A 10-year-old girl reportedly fell into a drain in front of the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council hall in Kampung Cheras Baru before being swept away by the currents yesterday (May 19) at around 6:07pm.
According to a report by Kosmo, the victim initially fell into the drain with another girl, aged 11, but the latter managed to cling onto a pipe in the drain before being rescued by members of the public.


So far, search and rescue (SAR) operations for the victim are being carried out by the fire department and the police along the drain in question, including in Cheras.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd. Azam Ismail confirmed this incident.
He said that the SAR operation had to stop at 10:30pm yesterday due to bad weather and resumes today (May 20) at 8am.
