Yesterday (23rd March) Malaysia recorded 212 new cases of Covid-19 bringing the total number of cases to 1,518.
According to UN, the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that the spread of Covid-19 globally is now accelerating.
“It took 67 days from the first reported case to reach 100,000 cases, 11 days for second 100,000 cases, and just four days for the third 100,000 cases.”
Dr. Tedros says, however, it is not too late to stop this and urges everyone to #StayAtHome and practice social distancing to flatten the curve.
Other than that, he hopes that by testing every suspected case, isolating and caring for every confirmed case, and tracing and quarantining every close contact will help to flatten out the curve too.
Dr. Tedros recognises that some countries are finding it hard to carry out these measures and have given his appreciation to countries who have stepped in and sent their medical professionals to the countries that need support.
“This is an incredible example of international solidarity.”
Meanwhile, as informed citizens, we should all take the Movement Control Order seriously and practice social distancing religiously! If you are unclear about the order then you can call the hotline @ 03-88882010.
