Nasi Lemak is Malaysia’s national dish. It is the perfect food for every occasion, meal, plus it’s nutritious!

1. Nasi Lemak Burger, McDonald’s Singapore
This Nasi Lemak burger recently went viral after Singapore’s McDonald’s announced that they will be launching this product on July 13, 2017.
This special burger is made up of a juicy coconut-flavoured chicken thigh patty, a fried egg, caramelised onions, fresh cucumbers, topped with a generous scoop of sambal, sandwiched between two semolina buns.
Malaysians are undoubtedly upset by the fact that this burger is only available in Singapore and not Malaysia. Seriously?! WHY, McD?!
2. Nasi Lemak Cheesecake, Lepaq Lepaq Cafe
Although Lepaq Lepaq Cafe has unfortunately closed down, we definitely cannot discount this quirky creation!
For a period of time, while the cafe was still up and running, Klang Valley natives would arrive in droves into the establishment for a piece of this cheesy, spicy, fatty goodness.
Instagram feeds were filled with this Nasi Lemak cheesecake for a long time. No one could get over the fusion of sweet and savoury flavours!
3. Nasi Lemak Condom, Karex’s ONE Condom
This isn’t the first uniquely Malaysian-flavoured condom that Karex came up with for ONE Condom. Before this Nasi Lemak idea popped into their minds, they came up with Durian-flavoured condoms.
Okay, first of all, what will they smell like and will they feel spicy?!
Unfortunately, this condom is still under research and development by the company and no product has been released yet.
4. Nasi Lemak Sushi
If you’re a fan of tasting everything in one simple bite, then this Nasi Lemak sushi is the dish for you! This unique-looking dish is a speciality of Ruyi & Lyn.
The rice is neatly packed into a rectangular shape with a long and thinly sliced cucumber wrapped around it. On top of this sits a generous amount of ikan bilis and sambal to give it a holistic Nasi Lemak taste.

5. Nasi Lemak Phone Cover, Digi
When phones being stolen off of tables was a common occurrence, Digi came up with the quirkiest idea to help keep our phones safe.
They created a Nasi Lemak Bungkus phone cover to help conceal your phone if you choose to leave it in public. This cover is the perfect disguise for your phone.
…But what if someone wanted Nasi Lemak and took your phone instead???
Of course, we know it’s kind of a joke, lah!
6. Nasi Lemak Cake, Tiana Kitchen
Know of someone who absolutely loves Nasi Lemak like no other? Then gift them this special cake for their birthday!
This next-level creation is the product of the amazing mother-and-daughter duo, Tatiana, 46, and Jennifer Yap. The idea popped up when one of them found a similar picture of this cake online and decided to make one for Jennifer’s son.
Soon, their business picked up and they even added different variations of their cake such as sambal petai, sambal udang, sambal sotong, and more!
You can check out their website here.
7. Nasi Lemak 2.0, Namewee
Okay, this isn’t a food or an item, but c’mon Nasi Lemak inspired the title of this movie!
No Malaysian can ever forget this movie. Whether we’ve actually watched it or not, we would definitely know of it. How could we not when it was directed by and starred the controversial Namewee and the great Adibah Noor!
Though Namewee’s aim for this movie was to unify people, many sensitive citizens protested and even made a police report against it!
8. Nasi Lemak Pizza, Brulee Brasserie
They say there’s no topping in this world that could ever ruin a pizza. Well, they weren’t wrong when Brulee Brasserie decided to make a pizza out of Nasi Lemak!
Just like any thin pizza, the dough is laid out thinly. Then, the amazing chefs top this baby up with Nasi Lemak ingredients.
However, no pizza would ever be completed without cheese and it was no different for this unique dish. Sadly, just like Lepaq Lepaq Cafe, Brulee Brasserie is also permanently closed down. Aww man! 🙁
9. Nasi Lemak Ice Cream by Skream Softserve
This Nasi Lemak ice cream is the brainchild of 25-year-old Melissa Tan Chia Hui. Of course it wasn’t an overnight success for this young woman.
It took her 3 months to perfect the recipe and she even made sure that all the ingredients were free of preservatives and chemicals!
Many people were apprehensive about this product due to the stigma of fusing savoury dishes and sweet desserts together. However, after giving it a try, more and more people were convinced that it was a pretty ingenious idea after all.
10. Nasi Lemak Handbag by Hermès
Yes, you read that right! Hermès! The massive fashion brand came up with a bunch of quirky handbags and clutches that eerily resembled the Nasi Lemak Bungkus.
Others found it to resemble banana leaf rice instead. Aside from that, they even produced bags which looked like they were made out of pandan leaves and coconut leaves!
These amazing bags were part of their 2010 Spring Collection designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier.
