The nation was shocked by the attack at the Ulu Tiram Police Station yesterday (May 18). 2 PDRM officers were slashed and shot by a member of JI, a terrorist group based in Indonesia. Another officer was injured.
According to PDRM’s Facebook post, both fallen soldiers had only joined the force less than 2 years ago.
The late Constabel Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar and Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said, 22 and 21, respectively, were patrol officers in the Crime Prevention Unit. Fahmi was from Bidor, Perak and Syafiq was from Kuantan, Pahang.
“I accept fate”
Fahmi’s father, Azhar told the Sinar Harian that despite his sadness, he accepted the bitter fate.
Azhar last met his son during Ramadhan, when the pair celebrated the Holy month together for two weeks. Despite being far away, the late Fahmi kept in touch with his family via WhatsApp.
“He was a good son. He did not show any changes prior to his death.”
Fahmi’s siblings are also police officers and regardless of what has happened, Azhar will not stop them from becoming the authorities.
The other deceased police personnel, Syafiq wanted to further his forensic studies, according to his father. Ahmad Said.
Ahmad initially thought it was a scam call when he received the bad news. After learning the truth, he accepted the tragedy, reported Malaysia Gazette.
“Like it or not, I have to accept that he’s no longer here.”
Ahmad said his late son couldn’t celebrate Raya with the family as he was on duty, and he had planned to come home in July.
Rest in peace, soldiers. Our thoughts and prayers go to the family members of the deceased.
