The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has tightened cross-state permits starting yesterday, 15 April, following an increase in Covid-19 infection cases.
However, netizens have been skeptical after a notice featuring three conditions that can only be used for interstate travel purposes went viral on social media.
According to Harian Metro, Deputy Inspector, General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani confirmed there is an exception for those who can interstate travel but it is subjected to those three situations.
“The standard operating procedure (SOP) monitoring team has been instructed to be strict in enforcing the SOPs set by the National Security Council (MKN),” he told Harian Metro.
Crossing state borders is only allowed for immediate family emergency cases (must attach supporting documents), death, and long-distance spouses.
However, interstate travelling is not allowed for the purpose of attending weddings and other festivities.
Please do not take advantage of these exceptions. Let’s do our part by following these SOPs strictly.
