It’s always irritating when your GPS displays “Connection Lost” when you’re cruising into a tunnel as it’s dark and the distance to get to the end of the tunnel is long, making it difficult to navigate through the end without going through the wrong exit.
Well, not to worry, because U Mobile has collaborated with Waze and SMART Tunnel to make your journey a lot easier. They have made GPS connectivity a lot stronger throughout the world’s longest dual-purpose tunnel. With the help of Waze Beacons, a Bluetooth hardware-enabled device, drivers will get a smoother connection when they simply turn on their Bluetooth device on their mobile phones.
According to the U Mobile Chief Marketing Officer, Jasmine Lee, drivers can still navigate through the Smart Tunnel despite the kind telco service they are subscribed to.
“With Waze’s Beacons technology, all mobile device users, regardless of which telco service they are subscribed to, will now be able to leverage on the full features of Waze uninterrupted throughout the tunnel,” she said.
The Chief Operating Officer of SMART, Mohd Noor Mohd Ali, also explained that with this new technology, people’s travelling experience will be much smoother and uninterrupted. They will also be easily updated with road incidents such as traffic jams and accidents along their journey in the SMART Tunnel.
For Waze users, to ensure safe and more convenient driving, just enable your Bluetooth device and you’ll instantly be connected to Waze Beacons.
