All pet owners have probably felt the anxiety when their pets got lost.
For over 10 years, Yan Xiang has been rescuing, fostering, rehoming and even adopting stray cats and dogs. Imagine her despair when she found out that one of her rescues escaped from home and was poisoned. Yan Xiang told World of Buzz,
“I thought to myself: “If only he had a tag with contact that people could identify him, this wouldn’t have happened.” It made me realize something must be done.”
After some brainstorming, Yan Xiang came up with the idea of making a pet ID that resembles our own ICs! The cards are in two sizes, the owner’s pet card (credit card size) and pet tag (small enough to be hooked on a collar).
- The credit card-sized owner’s pet card can be used as proof of ownership if someone tries to steal your pet. It can also be presented at the vet for pet’s details.
- The pet tag is small enough to hook on collars so your pets will always have identification on them. If your pets ever get lost, it’s easier for people to find & return them to you.
Disclaimer: The pet ID is not a pet licence. This is just a pet tag for Malaysian pet owners. It will come in handy if their pets get stolen or lost. Owners would still need to apply for their pet licence from the local council.
If you’re interested in getting the pet ID, you can visit the Paw Life Matters website here. It is also worth noting that Yan Xiang sells homemade pet treats and a small percentage from every sale will be used to help strays and donated to local pet shelters!
As Paw Life Matters has received tremendous support, Yan Xiang says:
“I am very grateful to all Malaysian pet lovers for showing me overwhelming support. Let’s keep this up as every paw life matters!”
This is certainly a very good idea! Will you be purchasing one of these “IDs”?
