By now you’ve probably heard of the boyfriend pillow, but somehow, it doesn’t seem to quite do the trick. There’s now a new and improved version (although not marketed as such) that looks like it may just be better than a hug from your boyfriend.
This time, the pillow comes complete with the whole torso, including some manly six-pack abs and strong chest muscles. The pillow also has soft and cuddly arms that can actually wrap around your body thanks to the velcro strips at the tips. You can be as clingy as you like with this boyfriend pillow and hug it in different positions too.

The pillow is hairless, taut and toned – and even if it only comes in one colour, it looks really soft to touch. The idea for this pillow seems to have originated from Shirane, a recent graduate of Tokyo’s Ochanomizu Institute of Art who designed this macho cushion as part of her graduate project. She started a crowdfund to produce the pillow in response to lots of positive feedback, and she has already reached her target of 450,000 yen (RM17,195).
Shirane describes the item as something that can heal emotional distress and soothe the soul, according to SoraNews 24. Pledgers can expect to receive their items in a few months as it’s scheduled to start shipping in October. However, it looks like other people might have beaten Shirane to the punch and started selling it online already.

WORLD OF BUZZ checked it out and found various merchants selling it on sites like Aliexpress, Taobao and Funing Factory, an online South Korean store, with prices starting from 97.56 RMB (RM59). It measures 65 x 60 cm, which looks to be a pretty adequate size for any lonely girl who needs a hug, and it seems the pillow can to be shipped to Malaysia too.
For those who have a partner, this can be a great comfort when you’re feeling lonely because your significant other isn’t available! Netizens were simply amused by the cushion and tagged their friends, asking them to get it for them as it looks really comfy.
