What was supposed to be a relaxing and stress-free vacation at a water theme park turned into a nightmare for this woman.

The Mirror reported that a British tourist’s artery was severed after plummeting down on an extreme, 22-metre-tall slide in Bulgaria.

Jade Graves said that she felt intense pain in her pelvic area as she hit the water at the bottom. The 29-year-old then noticed blood streaming down her legs, filling the pool with the crimson fluid.

With thrill-seekers falling from the height of 22 metres, the Space Jam, a green-coloured water slide found at Aqua Paradise Water Park, is said to be one of the most extreme rides in the park.

The tourist was rushed to a hospital, suffering from severe blood loss from the severed artery in her intimate area. The injuries were believed to have been caused by the high pressure of the water slide. She had to spend four days in the hospital, where she was given a blood transfusion and underwent surgery to repair her artery.

“I was meant to be having a lovely holiday with my family but the whole experience has been traumatising,” she said.

“As I hit the water, I was in a lot of pain and I lost so much blood that I had to get a transfusion. It was a complete nightmare and I still get deeply upset about it.”

“I am still uncertain as to what happened exactly, because I followed all the rules put to me by the lifeguard.”

“I really hope that the investigations can get to the bottom of it as I don’t want anyone else to have to go through what I have,” she expressed on the horrendous incident that she had faced.

The traumatised tourist had to take five weeks off from work to recover and is considering legal action against the Aqua Paradise Water Park in Nessebar.

With regard to that legal action, Jade has hired Cheryl Palmer-Hughes and Tejire Akaun, who are international serious injury lawyers at Irwin Mitchell.

“This is a deeply concerning case where a young woman has sustained horrific injuries during what was meant to be a fun and relaxing time,” stated one of the lawyers.

“Unfortunately, we see a lot of these cases at this particular time of year, and Jade’s life has been completely turned upside down with her suffering mentally as well as physically.”

“We have now begun our investigation into the accident and are determined to get Jade the answers she needs to help her move forward with her life,” they added.

Take note to be careful whenever participating in extreme rides as the risks are always there. If you have doubts about a certain ride, better not put yourself at risk just to experience the thrill of it. Remember, safety first.
