And when you thought 2020 couldn’t get any worse…
A Filipino woman has been brought to court under allegations of mixing her urine and menstrual blood in the food served to apartment occupants in Sengkang, Singapore, reported Straits Times.
The 43-year-old suspect, Canares Rowena Ola, who had earlier admitted to the offence in several statements to the police, has since decided to challenge these allegations while on trial in district court.
She will be facing one charge of mischief, which carries a jail term of up to a year and a fine.
Details surrounding Canare’s employment and how it’s linked to the case is unavailable and there has been no mention of why she had committed the offence in December 2018. The court was also informed that the contaminated food had been eaten and DNA tests could not be conducted for the case.
She will be represented by her lawyer, Kalaithasan Karuppaya and a pre-trial is scheduled to be held on 25 January 2021.
In an unrelated case, an Indonesian maid was sentenced to six months and seven weeks’ jail time for a similar offence in Singapore.
Why would someone do this?
