We’re quick to point fingers at the government when a flood happens and blame them for not doing a good job in making plans to avoid the disaster or at least, reduce the consequences of it. Little did we know, sometimes we just have to look around and see that some of us contribute to the flood – by littering.
In a recent TikTok post by @syera.sh, the Malaysian woman caught someone littering into the river from the bridge in Pasar Seni, KL. Syera approached the woman and politely asked her,
“Why did you throw the rubbish into the river?”
Unfortunately, Syera’s kindness and politeness were not responded to in the same manner. In fact, the woman threatened to get physical.
“I’ll slap you!”
Syera’s kind intention to remind the woman to be nice to the environment was not reciprocated but instead, the woman justified her action, saying it wouldn’t harm the environment.
“Is that thing alive? Is the river even alive? Is the river in pain?”
We guess if the river could speak, it would’ve told the woman to stop littering.
To justify her actions, she told Syera that that were no signs of no littering nearby that stopped her from doing so. Shockingly, the woman had the audacity to threaten Syera by saying, “I’ll slap you!”
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Syahirah said that the woman was alone at the time, and she saw her walking around with a plastic waste. Her instinct told her that the woman was going to litter. Syera got ready with her phone and it didn’t take long for the woman who littered to prove Syera’s instinct right.
Fortunately, the woman did not slap Syera, despite her threats. You can watch the clip below.
@syera.sh I was just trying to be nice and tell her not to litter ? Was I wrong for telling strangers to be nice to the environment? #malaysiatiktok #foryoupage #fyp
If the environment could talk, we’re sure that we can hear their cry of pain every single day, given how many people are still taking nature for granted. For the sake of a better place to live in, and the sake of future generations, let’s stop littering and learn to care for the environment.
