Isn’t this a little bit extreme?

A lady was recently fined RM2,500 in Kota Bharu Majistret Court for blackmailing a woman who allegedly had an affair with her husband by threatening that she was going to send goons to rape her, reported Harian Metro.

The sentence was decreed by Majistret Kamarul Hasyime Rosli after 25-year-old Nur Eznie Syarmimy Ab Aziz pleaded guilty to the crime. However, should she fail to pay the fine, the court commanded that she must be jailed for four months.

According to the report, Eznie was accused of blackmailing Nuraziera Awang, 20, by saying that she was going to send some goons to gang-rape Nuraziera. Besides that, Eznie also threatened that she was going to leave drugs in her hotel so the police will arrest her for drug possession. So extreme!

Nuraziera received the threatening call when she was at a hotel in Jalan Dusun Muda, Kota Bharu and lodged a police report because she was terrified. Good move!

After further investigations were conducted, it was revealed that Eznie blackmailed Nuraziera because she suspected that her husband was having an affair with her.

Prior to this, lawyer Mohd Faizal Hazim Abdul Rahman requested for the accused not to be given a heavy sentence because she had cooperated during the investigations and she is a mother of a child.

Nonetheless, Deputy Prosecutor Mohd Faizun Sulaiman requested an appropriate punishment for the accused in order to make sure this mistake is not repeated.

Blackmailing someone (even if they’re at the wrong end) isn’t cool. Hopefully, the ladies have learnt their lesson and won’t repeat it again. That said, do you think the punishment given by the court was appropriate? Let us know in the comments below!
