A video circulating on X shows a massive plothole left unfixed on a road in Lahad Datu, Sabah, sparking outrage among netizens.

The road is not only filled with potholes, but the damages are of different depths, affecting motorists who had to navigate the road slowly to avoid damaging their vehicles.

The concession company Globinaco Sdn Bhd, which is involved in state road maintenance work, is facing difficulties in repairing badly damaged Jalan Kilang here following objections from third parties.

The Sabah Public Works Department (JKR), in a statement, said that the third party claimed that the status of the land was private property and not a road reserve.

“The road location has been listed for repairs this year and the allocation has also been approved, but the repair work could not be carried out due to objections from third parties who claimed the land’s status as private land and not a road reserve,” the statement said.

Sabah Public Works Department said the matter has been referred to the Land and Survey Department (JTU) and is awaiting confirmation from the JTU.

In another report by China Press, many netizens are baffled to see the massive plothole left unattended, abandoning the safety of the road users. Some ask if the potholes would only be fixed if a VIP is there, while others compare the road conditions to the surface of Mars.

Regardless, we hope immediate actions will be taken soon to ensure the safety of the road users.
