Recently, several places across Malaysia have been struck with flash floods and storms, including in Penang where high tides further contributed to the natural disaster and caused chaos.
And while the floodwaters have subsided in Penang, it left ‘gifts’ behind for the people.
The Penang Kini Facebook page showcased how the high tides in Penang had purged rubbish and litter back onto land before it subsided.
They wrote, “The condition following the huge waves in Penang this afternoon. When nature ‘returns gifts’ back to us.”
In the images showcased, insane amounts of rubbish could be seen left behind by the high tides, including countless plastic bottles, and even shoes and slippers.
Karma at its finest?
Malaysians were also quick to point out that the sea was simply returning what belongs to us, the people.
“The sea water also hates dirtiness. Humans have brains but don’t use it for cleanliness.”
“When humans are hardworking in providing (rubbish) to the sea, the results often come at the end of the year.”
“What you ‘give’, you ‘get’ back. You guys are so dirty. It’s so embarrassing.”
While it is truly saddening to see the amount of rubbish humans are leaving behind, we’re a little glad that there’s now a tiny portion less of it in the sea.
What do you think will make Malaysians strictly stop littering? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
