Malaysians often donate to beggars, especially those who are differently abled or elderly. What if we told you that your hard-earned cash may go into the wrong hands, like the one this netizen experienced in her Facebook update?
The user says, “Here is my story. Last week, this brother was seen wheeling around sporting a bummed leg around my housing area.”
“So I bought two packets of beef rendang from him as he was screaming his heart out just outside my gate. Out of pity, I bought his goods for RM25, but what I got was a small piece of meat, so I knew at that moment that I was scammed.”
To her shock, she met up with the same man not long after.
“Right in front of my eyes, I saw the very same man loading up his vehicle. Hilariously, he was no longer differently abled at that time.”
“I guess the modus operandi is simple…act differently-abled to gain pity, and then cheat people with subpar goods,” she said.
She added, “I pity those who do work hard out there. I wonder if the person sleeps well at night, knowing that he has scammed many with his operations.”
