It’s a scene familiar to almost every Malaysian, especially when eating out or just hanging around in public. Then they appear, an individual, sometimes with a child in tow, or dressed in religious garb, carrying forged documents and extending a hand to ask for your hard-earned cash.
Probably tired of having to turn them away, one netizen decided to share her experience with a man who scolded her for ‘ignoring’ him while trying to con her into donating.

The incident took place in Baling, Kedah. The video begins with the man, dressed in full religious attire, holding a makeshift piggy bank and a folder of documents, scolding the woman for not responding to him.
“I’m not forcing you to donate. You could’ve just said you weren’t willing.”
He added, “I could’ve walked away and tried elsewhere.”
The woman responded:
“All I did was nod. I still respect you. I even said thank you. What else do you want from me?”

The man then backtracked, claiming he wasn’t angry, and advised her to acknowledge him differently next time.
In her status update, the netizen wrote:
“If you’re in Baling, Kedah, please be wary of this man. I was waiting for my food when he came asking for donations.”
She added, “I smiled and politely declined, but he got aggressive and started scolding me. He said I should’ve told him earlier if I wasn’t going to donate.”
“I wanted to respect him and let it go, but I decided to post this anyway because he had the nerve to scold me,” she explained.
