One of the viral facilitators from a local university in Segamat, Johor has apologised for the birthday prank during orientation day, where a large crowd of new intakes were watching.
“First and foremost, I have to apologise for my content which was inappropriate. That is a mistake that we (the facilitators) cannot deny.”
Regardless, the facilitator then said despite his mistake and the staged fight for the birthday prank, he hoped the orientation would be a memory for all the new intakes. The video is currently circulating on X and other social media platforms.
Another woman beside the facilitator then shouted at students asking them to record the latter as he was still giving his statement, saying,
“Record! This is the time to record!”
“We’re family, and we all make mistakes”
The facilitator, however, believed that the person who posted the prank online was also responsible.
“Maybe the person accidentally circulated the video online, but we’re family here. We all make mistakes and I hope starting from today, we can forgive each other. Let’s do our best, shall we?”
The crowds then applauded and supported the facilitator for his speech.
“It’s like sorry, but not sorry”
Many netizens, on the other hand, did not find the apology acceptable, especially with the other facilitator beside the man who shouted and asked the new intakes to record the scene.
“Apology not accepted, because you’ve embarrassed the people by doing the stupidest thing in the history of Malaysian universities. You should’ve been expelled.”
“The woman beside him is so noisy. He was talking and she screamed all of a sudden and told everyone to record.”
“The woman beside him was so defensive. She was crossing her arms and she looked arrogant, and all of a sudden she shouted and asked everyone to record. It’s like she’s sorry but not sorry.”
“The woman facilitator who shouted was annoying. You’re bound to see one or two facilitators like this in the university.”
We hope the facilitators can learn from this experience and we wish the new intakes a smooth semester ahead.
