As the country enters the endemic phase as well as the Ramadan month, there are no more restrictions on the opening of Ramadan Bazaars and the operation hours of restaurants.
Yesterday, a tweet by user @samantha__chong sparked conversations between netizens. The tweet features a photo of the Bazaar TTDI with a packed crowd. Responding to the tweet, several Twitter users have also attached pictures and videos of other Ramadan Bazaar in Putrajaya, Shah Alam and Kluang, which also seem to be very crowded.

The tweet has gotten 2.7 retweets, 1.4k quoted retweets and 7.8k likes at the time of writing.
Netizens also have dividing opinions about the matter, where some think that this result of opening the borders and eliminating the restrictions post harmful effects, while some think that the economy has to go on and we have to learn to live with the Covid-19 virus.
“@dimishtra @Khairykj@DGHisham@DrAmarMOH@Dr_ASinghR@dochelmy@drmusanordin this is the result of opening up so quickly. These guys will go to work/ school on Monday & spread it to the rest of us that are careful. How is this calibrated, scientific & controlled.” says user @rehanahbhathal.
“eh halo sampai bila u want to quarantine. Life goes on. the economy has to go on. people have bills to pay.” says user @marissaadelina5.
Some users expressed their opinions that this scenario is normal as we can’t forever be living with fear, while some criticised the bad crowd control.
User @digita1tech tweeted, “Let me spill some beans…Covid WILL ALWAYS BE THERE…like probably 4EVER!! Now either live with it or DIE, but life must go on!!” while @xx7808 responded, “live with it of course. but does that mean it’s ok to be sardine-pack like this? i mean even before covid , you pun rasa tak selesa if mane2 tempat you jam pack macam tu. kan”
Although the restrictions and guidelines are gradually loosened up as we enter the endemic phase, Malaysians are also encouraged to wear face masks, practice social distancing and prepare for the worse that can happen. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
While enjoying the long-lost fun of going out, do not forget to get tested whenever you have any Covid-19 related symptoms. Stay safe!
