While this Hari Raya may be one that is celebrated within your own homes as the CMCO continues, that doesn’t mean that it has to be all grey and gloom. In fact, some families in Malaysia have even come up with a way to still celebrate the festivities with their neighbours during this time, while practicing good social distancing habits!

Celebrating together while maintaining social distancing

In a video that recently surfaced online over local social media, families in a local residential neighbourhood here were seen doing something completely unconventional in order to allow them to fully enjoy and partake in the the merriment of the celebrations.

As visiting the homes of others is now forbidden by the government, these Malaysian families decided that the next best thing that they could do during Hari Raya was to set up picnics. Where you ask?

Right outside their homes, so that they can be around their neighbours and enjoy eating together, despite maintaining a safe social distance away from one another!

The Facebook group, allegedly run from Negeri Sembilan, shows how one family, who organised an open house complete with a buffet, made seating arrangements with their neighbours outside of their own respective homes to allow for safe social distancing as everyone enjoyed the food.

The video, which has since gone viral, has gained the support and approval of many Malaysian netizens who praised the community for taking part in such a great initiative while continuing to abide by the rules of social distancing.
