Despite plenty of cases of cyclists getting hit by cars whilst cycling on the road, it seems that there is no end to the matter.

Recently, a group of cyclists garnered some negative attention after they were spotted cycling in the middle lane of a busy road in KL.

In a video which has gone viral on Twitter, a group of cyclists can be seen riding their bikes in the middle of a busy road with a lot of cars and motorcycles surrounding them.

Despite the slow pace they were going at, the group seemed unbothered by all of the negative attention they were getting from fellow road users.

The video was shared by Twitter user @myjoe_, who wrote, “I don’t know what to say if they don’t win Gold medals at the Olympics. At some point, they blocked an entire lane,” regarding the matter.

Although it is unclear where the incident had occurred, judging from the road signs, it can be assumed that the cyclists were heading towards Ampang and Hulu Kelang.

Irresponsible road users

The video has since gone viral on Twitter and currently sits on over 168,800 views. Plenty of netizens took to the comments section to condemn the irresponsible cyclists.

Meanwhile, a Twitter user had tried to clarify the situation by claiming that the group are actually national supply riders from Terengganu. “They’re not just weekend warriors who cycle for an hour and then go and lepak.”

However, the user’s claim was quickly shot down as netizens reaffirmed the belief that no cyclist should be allowed on the public roads at all.

“If they got hit, it doesn’t matter if they’re a rider or what. Even if they’re training, the safety of the rider and other road users should be ensured.”

Another user tagged the relevant authorities and said that if they are national team cyclists, why wasn’t there a motorcycle escort behind them for safety reasons.

“This seems like a bicycle club without proper safety measurements,” said the user.
