You don’t need us to tell you that reckless driving is never a wise thing to condone. Whether it be because you’re distracted, drunk, or simply a careless adrenalin junkie, you’re putting your life and the lives of other road users in harms way if you’re not careful.
But much as we think it’s common sense, some people are willing to take the risk and put their lives as well as the lives of other road users in considerable danger by driving recklessly. Take this viral story for example, posted by Twitter user @999Malaysia which shows a car careening wildly along the highway.

The driver, who is allegedly drunk at the time this was filmed, can visibly be seen driving wildly on the three-lane highway. Driving along the fast lane, they are seen overtake a number of cars while occasionally swerving into the painted road lines. The driver even comes close to scraping into other cars! That’s incredibly dangerous!

But the worst of it happened when the driver encountered a bend on the highway and was unable to control their car at speed. Appearing to rear-end another car, the driver then spun wildly out of control and wound up plunging into a ditch by the side of the highway.

In a miraculous stroke of luck, nobody was hurt or killed in the accident. Despite that, we cannot discount the fact that this is a clear case of negligent responsibility where the driver is concerned, as the accident could have been much worse. It was reported that a plainclothes police officer who had been tailing them the whole time tried to ask the driver for their driver’s license, but the driver cussed at him instead!

As you can imagine, netizens were quick to condemn the actions of the driver, many who are saying how incredibly irresponsible it is to be driving so recklessly without care. We have to say we agree.
Though we can’t confirm if the driver was indeed completely drunk as stated in the original post, we’d like to remind everyone once more never to drive drunk! Take a Grab or have a sober friend who’s the designated driver la!
