Today (November 19) is the day when Malaysians excitedly leave their homes to carry out their due diligence and vote for the party they deem fit to lead the country. The crowds and the long queue are the “scenes” that we all need to be sure that many Malaysians love and care for the country.
As for a Malaysian in Selangor by the name of Teewashini, something else warmed her heart. At her polling center SJK(C) Kundang, she encountered a Malay aunty who spoke fluent Tamil. Teewashini went to the polling center with her grandmother, who waited for her to cast her vote, and when she went back to her grandmother, Teewashini noticed her grandmother engaging in a casual conversation with the Malay aunty in full Tamil.
Teewashini reached out to WORLD OF BUZZ and shared a clip of the Malay aunty speaking Tamil, just like a native!
The makcik who was walking with her grandmother stunned Teewashini when she asked her grandmother “ithu than ungge pere pilleya“ (Is that your grandchild?)
Shrouded by curiosity, Teewashini asked where did the aunty learn to speak fluent Tamil, and that was when the she started to share some tidbits of her life.
“Before she got married, she stayed in Linggam Estate in Perak where she had a lot of friends there,” Teewashini told WORLD OF BUZZ.
The aunty also said that she spent a lot of time with her friends back then in Linggam Estate where she used to wear Saree a lot and took pictures with them. She then moved out of the estate following her marriage, and she barely spoke Tamil after that.
However, that did not stop the aunty from catching up with her favorite Tamil movies.
Teewashini also said that the aunty misses her old friends in Linggam Estate, and the latter is hoping for a reunion with them anytime soon.
The conversation with the aunty made Teewashini’s day and it makes her lucky to be a Malaysian even more.
“I’m a proud Malaysian. Forever.”

We’re all proud Malaysians, and the different cultures and ethnicities are certainly among the reasons why we will always be proud to be Malaysians. Did you encounter anything heartwarming at your polling center today?
